Biography of Sir Ratan Tata Early Life and Education Sir Ratan Tata was born on December 20, 1937, in Surat, Gujarat, India, into a prominent Parsi family. He is the son of Naval Tata and the grandson of J.R.D. Tata, the founder of the Tata Group. Ratan Tata completed his early education at the Cathedral and John Connon School in Mumbai.
